Linda couldn't wait for me to meet my future husband... after several months of trying to get me to agree, she made arrangements for a blind date. (oooh, how we all hate those!) Doug called me within a day or two. We planned to meet at Neighbor's Bistro on Sunday afternoon have a cocktail, and then go for a motorcycle ride. The bar was closed, so we hopped on the bikes and rode, and rode and rode! A couple of hours later we stopped for a cold beer. I ordered a Bud Light, not knowing at the time he was such a Miller man. Another hour or two into the ride (it was starting to get dark) we came upon a small town which was supposed to be having a corn roast... but we couldn't find it. After asking for directions, we found out the party wasn't until the next day. So...we found a corner bar to stop for a burger. While adding the fixings to his burger, Doug took the pepper shaker cover off, but didn't replace it very well... I got the entire contents of the pepper shaker on my burger when I went to use it. Thank goodness we both had the good sense and humor to laugh at the entire day. He called me a few days later, asked me to accompany him to a wedding where we danced the night away. We have since blended 2 wonderful families together on Sunday afternoons, and developed a great network of fun-loving friends. I have a great group of friends at work who all love Doug (especially when he becomes the designated driver after our girls' night out.) Our extended families have been very supportive of us and we consider them to be wonderful friends too. We look forward to many wonderful years ahead.
One of the most beautiful places on earth is in the gardens of Emerald Bay. This is where our wedding ceremony will take place. (barring no rain!) Please meet us at the west end of the property by 3:55pm on Sunday, we'll be at the gazebo. Our girls will be standing up with us. (wearing cute summer dresses) We are looking forward to a fun ceremony filled with music, laughter, and love. After the service please join us for a toast followed by a few pictures before we move onto the reception/dinner. We will be going to a wonderful restaurant just down the road. We will be jumping on a bus out front of the hotel for transportation to the restaurant. Doug & I love the shrimp & lobster, please feel free to try it, if you'd like. There will also be a couple of other choices, for those of you who prefer something different. After dinner we will bus back to Emerald Bay for an after dinner drink (or 2) at Kelly's Bar. The chef promises us a delicious cake served out on the veranda after our dinner has settled.
Hopefully by now everyone has thought about making their airline and hotel reservations. Please let us know the dates you are coming and going. If you are having any trouble, let us know.
Remember! You will need to arrange shuttle service to and from the hotel/airport. This can be done in Pueblo Bonito website, under guest services.
Once here and settled, consider making a trip to town to pick up a few essential groceries. We suggest breakfast foods, coffee, juice, snacks, your favorite beverage. We bought fruit, bread, and peanut butter last time we were here which were good choices. It was just enough to settle that rumbling tummy before going into town to eat.
The hotel has a couple of wonderful full-meal restaurants, but a little pricey for daily dining. There is a pool side cafe to purchase nachos, pizza, etc. Downtown has several wonderful restaurants which we enjoyed on a daily basis. We'll be looking forward to joining you during the week!
To get to town, the hotel runs a free shuttle (nice bus) to their sister hotel in town. Hop off there, and walk or get a "taxi" to anywhere else in town. Taxis are inexpensive and can be quite "fun". The shuttle runs early morning until about 11pm. If you decide to stay in town later, you will need to catch a taxi "back home".
We are also welcome to use the facilities (pools) at the other Pueblo Bonito Hotel. It is a quaint little hotel, check it out!
One of the first days you stay, you may want to check out the "City Tour". It gives you a good view of town (it is quite large), as well as shows off some of the historic sites and things to do.
Speaking of things to do, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy if so desired. (Lounging by the pool is nice, too). Examples include horseback riding, para sailing, boat rentals, zip lining, watching the cliff divers, Pacifico Brewery tours, disco/night life....
Monday, later afternoon, Doug & I will be setting up a party cruise. (No sailboat, Randy). We will arrange transportation to and from. It will be approx. $30/person. We would love everyone to join us.
Doug & I both want to thank all of you for supporting us, loving us, and joining us in Mazatlan for our wedding.
